International Volunteer Program

Whether you’re looking to help underprivileged girls in Nepal, give to substantially to a valuable cause, or discover yourself through a personal adventure, volunteering with the Unatti Foundation is a unique and profound life-altering experience.
We can tailor your experience to your needs:
· Live in a local village with our Unatti family.
· Tutor the girls after school in simple math and English subjects.
· Teach English at one of the many underfunded schools in the area – including the Sharda Primary School.
· Teach art or music classes at the Unatti Arts and Music Center.
· Help develop sustainability initiatives through agricultural development.

Arts and Music

The arts and music allow the children of a neglected community a voice for their emotions and personal development of their self-esteem. Every child deserves the opportunity for creative expression.
Music and art provide a forum through which children from multiple backgrounds can participate—regardless of their age or level of literacy. Particularly in an environment where children may not receive the educational opportunities or emotional comfort they need in order to fully express themselves through words, music and visual arts provide the forum within which Nepali children can cope with their surrounding and environment.
The Unatti Foundation offers a space of solace for the children of Bhaktapur through the Unatti Arts and Music Center – an after-school program that provides totally free art and music classes to the children of the community. Our support staff facilitates these children through their hardships by allowing them the freedom to express themselves not through violence or anger, but instead through the stroke of a paintbrush or the strum of a guitar.
As an organization from the Western world, it is imperative that we encourage children to succeed through a universal language. At the Unatti Arts and Music Center, children have the opportunity to look within themselves to make beautiful art. From the pride they gain from what they create, they develop a greater confidence, explore their unique and independent abilities, and define a sense of self that carries into all aspects of their lives.
